Overview
Site Reliability Engineer focused on ensuring reliability of .NET applications hosted in AWS environments, involving deep expertise in application code, RDS, observability stacks, and security infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Read, debug and contribute to production C#/.NET code to diagnose and fix app-level reliability issues
- Identify and resolve memory leaks, thread pool exhaustion, and GC pressure before incidents occur
- Partner with application engineers to embed reliability into feature design and deployment practices
- Instrument .NET services with distributed tracing and structured logging
- Operate EC2 Auto Scaling, ECS Fargate, and Lambda workloads appropriately
- Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code using CloudFormation or CDK
- Automate operational tasks, deployment pipelines, and disaster recovery procedures
- Manage RDS SQL Server deployments including Multi-AZ failover and read replica setup
- Operate backup and point-in-time recovery processes for databases
- Diagnose and resolve performance issues (slow queries, missing indexes, blocking chains)
- Design and maintain secure AWS network topologies: VPCs, subnets, security groups, NACLs
- Configure ALB/NLB routing, Route 53 DNS, and TLS certificate lifecycle via ACM
- Author least-privilege IAM policies; audit roles for over-permissioning
- Support compliance in PCI-regulated payments environment
- Participate in on-call rotation to respond swiftly to production incidents
- Define and track error budgets; balance velocity and reliability investment
- Communicate status updates clearly during incidents
- Maintain and improve runbooks, escalation paths, and on-call health over time
- Collaborate with platform engineering teams on architecture decisions
- Share observability and best practices with application teams
- Mentor engineers on SRE principles and operational excellence
Qualifications
- 8+ years in SRE, DevOps, platform engineering or systems-focused software engineering roles
- C#/.NET engineering ability – reading, debugging, contributing to production code
- Experience diagnosing memory leaks, thread exhaustion, GC pressure
- Hands-on AWS compute (EC2 Auto Scaling, ECS Fargate, Lambda)
- RDS SQL Server operational experience: Multi-AZ failover, read replicas, backups/PITR, slow query analysis, blocking chains
- Native AWS observability proficiency: CloudWatch, X-Ray, Infrastructure-as-code via CF/CDK
- Experience with AWS networking & security: VPCs, ALB/NLB, Route 53, TLS/ACM, IAM
- Knowledge of SLO discipline – defining SLIs/SLOs, run blameless postmortems, on-call pager
- Strong scripting ability (PowerShell, Python or Bash)
- Excellent communication & collaborative engineering mindset
- Openness to adopting AI tools, experimenting with new tech for smarter workflows
