Job Description
Commotion is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack, to be instrumental in building new technologies and products with speed and efficiency. This role offers a lot of ownership, autonomy, and direct impact on product development without rigid process constraints.
Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and own full features end-to-end – database to UI, deploy to monitor
- Make fast, reversible decisions; occasionally, fast irreversible ones with good judgment
- Work across the stack in TypeScript – React on the front, Node on the back
- Prototype rapidly, kill what doesn't work, double down on what does
- Operate with extreme ownership
- Collaborate directly with founders and leadership
Qualifications
- 5+ years building production software across the full stack.
- Deep fluency in TypeScript, React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB — not just "familiar with," but built real things with.
- A track record of being the go-to person when the team needed something built fast and built right.
- Comfort with ambiguity. You've shipped in environments where the map was being drawn while you were already driving.
- Strong architectural instincts — you know when to reach for the simple solution and when the problem genuinely demands complexity.
- The ability to context-switch without losing depth.
