Principal Engineer - Data Services, VP

- Own the end-to-end architecture and technical design of core data services, ensuring scalability, resilience, security, and operational excellence
- Translate product vision, regulatory needs, and enterprise demand into pragmatic technical designs, engineering roadmaps, and executable delivery plans
- Set and continuously improve engineering standards, testing practices, quality controls, and development patterns across multiple teams
- Design and develop infrastructure components using Terraform, infrastructure-as-code practices, and automation tooling to support reliable platform delivery
- Partner with architects, security engineers, control functions, the Chief Data Office, and other stakeholders to strengthen compliance, security posture, and platform reliability
- Mentor engineers, review critical design and code decisions, and act as a senior technical reference point for complex data platform challenges
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is a plus
- Very strong expertise in Java application development, including micro-services,
- Strong experience with operational databases (e.g. Postgres, Oracle)
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Object Oriented Programming, and design patterns, using Java
- Some understanding of cloud-based data platforms such as GCP BigQuery, Snowflake or Databricks is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills, strategic thinking and attention to detail
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
