Job description
Overview
As a Senior Analyst-Data Engineer at AstraZeneca, you will play a crucial role in transforming sophisticated medical data into clear decisions that advance significant progress for patients.
Responsibilities
- Conduct medical data analysis and reporting using Excel, Power Query, SQL, and Python to answer high-priority Medical questions and advise decisions.
- Build robust and reusable data structures by integrating inputs from various sources.
- Deliver insightful Power BI dashboards using DAX aligned to standard Medical metrics and benchmarks.
- Automate the process of integrating manually collected and external data to support repeatable reporting and analytics at scale.
- Own key decisions on schemas, transformations, and calculations to ensure performance, maintainability, and scalability across markets and therapeutic areas.
- Coordinate data quality and lineage, implement global integrity and consistent reporting, and resolve issues with platform and data owners.
- Identify and source datasets to validate business rules and requirements, reconcile discrepancies, and establish single sources of truth.
- Bring together feedback, develop requirements, and propose improvements to reporting, platforms, and metric capabilities.
- Support Medical data products and platforms to ensure accurate refreshes, diligent pipelines, and high trust in outputs.
- Partner with Medical and multi-functional teams to tailor analytics to specific needs and drive adoption.

Qualifications
- Quantitative bachelors degree in Engineering, Statistics, Applied Math, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data management systems, including data warehouses, data lakes, and data mesh architectures.
- Proficiency in SQL, Power BI, Excel/Power Query, and Python for data wrangling/automation.
- Good understanding of data quality practices, lineage, and documentation.
- Excellent communication and collaborator management skills.
- Ability to define user stories, collaborate in agile sprints, and advocate for user-centric design in analytics products.
- Proven track record in investigating data issues, reconciling discrepancies, and producing actionable recommendations.
