Job description
Overview
Join us as a "Data Engineer - AVP" at Barclays where you will be doing hands-on data engineering role focused on building production-grade data infrastructure and data products. The overall purpose of the role is to:
Qualifications
- Strong experience in Snowflake
- Strong experience in writing SQL
- Strong experience in working with Python
- Strong understanding of data pipelining and automation for data extraction and code change management
- Knowledge on working with Big Data sets on AWS using Presto/Spark/Athena
- Good communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Past experience with large scale text data or geolocation data
- Prior experience in ML/AI model deployment
- Compilation and analysis of data to help Analysts develop investment theses for their coverage areas.
- Presentation of Research views to Barclays Clients by helping to prepare materials or responses to client questions.
- Collaboration with the Analyst, Supervisory Analyst, Compliance and other stakeholders to help ensure Research is produced and delivered to Clients and internal stakeholders in a compliant manner.
- To advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness. Collaborate closely with other functions/ business divisions.
- Lead a team performing complex tasks, using well developed professional knowledge and skills to deliver on work that impacts the whole business function. Set objectives and coach employees in pursuit of those objectives, appraisal of performance relative to objectives and determination of reward outcomes

- Communicate complex information. 'Complex' information could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.
- Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
