Overview
The SRE Ops Engineer reports to the Director /Sr.
Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and optimize enterprise-scale Windows Server production environments, including IIS, Windows Services, Active Directory, and associated infrastructure components.
- Design, implement, and continuously enhance enterprise monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions using the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) or equivalent platforms to ensure proactive service health monitoring.
- Lead incident response activities, perform advanced troubleshooting, and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to restore services and prevent recurrence of customer-impacting incidents.
- Drive operational excellence by improving platform reliability, reducing incident frequency, and continuously optimizing Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR).
- Develop, maintain, and optimize automation solutions using PowerShell, Python, or equivalent scripting technologies to streamline operational processes and eliminate manual tasks.
- Support highly available, mission-critical production platforms by ensuring service continuity, performance, resilience, and participating in on-call support rotations.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure platform stability, security compliance, scalability, and operational readiness.
- Plan and execute platform lifecycle activities, including operating system upgrades, patch management, infrastructure modernization, configuration management, and continuous service improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, standard operating procedures (SOPs), knowledge articles, and disaster recovery documentation to support consistent operational execution.
- Analyze system performance, capacity, and availability trends, recommending proactive improvements to enhance service reliability and overall platform health .
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
- Must have 5+ years of hands-on experience administering enterprise Windows Server environments, including IIS, Windows Services, and Active Directory.
- 5+ years of experience implementing and supporting enterprise monitoring, logging, and observability platforms such as the ELK Stack or comparable technologies.
- Proven expertise in production support, incident management, advanced troubleshooting, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Problem Management within mission-critical environments.
- Strong scripting and automation experience using PowerShell, Python, or equivalent technologies to improve operational efficiency.
- Working knowledge of Basic Linux administration, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.
- Must have solid understanding of high availability architectures, system performance optimization, capacity planning, resiliency, and operational best practices.
- Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale production environments with stringent availability and service level objectives (SLOs/SLAs).
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including cloud-native operational concepts.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and modern software delivery methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and customer focus.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, production-critical environment while effectively managing competing priorities and driving operational excellence.
- Readiness and attitude in self-learning and upskilling in cross functional domains or any advanced technologies as business demands.
