Overview
Airbnb is seeking a Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead innovative ML initiatives and build transformative AI experiences for their Guest and Host community.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement advanced machine learning solutions including recommendation engines, ranking systems, and intent detection models
- Harness the power of Large Language Models (LLMs) to create transformative AI experiences
- Shape ideas from inception to production
- Lead ML, Data, and Product engineers across the organization
- Drive ML applications in Messaging and Notification areas
Qualifications
- 12+ years of software engineering experience
- 2+ years in a Principal or Senior Staff Engineer role with ownership responsibility over large-scale systems
- Background in design and development of scalable AI and ML systems
- Deep passion for building ML-powered products
- Ability to inspire, mentor, and coach engineering teams
- Excellent communication skills
Nice to have
- Experience leading engineering maturity in multiple organizations
- Experience with building novel ML systems
- Proactive approach toward high-impact work
Education
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
