Overview
The Software Engineer-III designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software tools including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop software programs
- Troubleshoot and debug software
- Develop software tools like operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools
- Determine software compatibility with hardware
- Make recommendations when solving technical problems
- Complete assignments in a timely manner
- Write modular, maintainable code
- Make the right trade-offs to efficiently solve problems
- Recognize impact of software changes on systems
- Make component changes
- Understand and comply with requirements
- Understand principles of hardware to make design decisions
- Link work to the external market
- Build subject matter expertise in current product domain
- Deliver well-structured, tested, and documented code
- Provide reasonably accurate estimates of work
- Participate in required meetings and agile ceremonies
- Provide test coverage to protect against future changes
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Track record of software development in the real world
- Mastery of one or more programming languages
- Excellent code designing skills
Nice to have
- Write code faster than average developer
- Outstanding quality with few bugs in generated code

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
