Overview
High-level Platform Site Reliability Engineer/Consultant Specialist role focused on large-scale API and microservice platform reliability, using SRE principles across AWS, Kubernetes, Mulesoft, Kong, Istio, etc.
Responsibilities
- Ensure availability and maintainability of large-scale API and Microservices platform across HK, UK, and US
- Continuously improve reliability, capacity, and performance applying SRE principles
- Drive scale, enhance observability, reduce toil, and enable business-driven changes
- Elevate expertise in managing HSBC core technology stack underpinned by AWS, Kubernetes, Kong, Mulesoft, Istio, etc.
- Develop best in class observability tools enabling monitoring alerting capabilities
- Investigate and resolve production incidents with detailed root cause analysis
- Contribute to design and engineering of self-healing capabilities for known failure modes
- Contribute code to platform repositories enabling reliability agenda, faster releases, tenant onboarding, and controls
- Maintain documentation including runbooks, guides, and support documents
- Participate in 24/7/365 SRE on-call roster
Qualifications
- Fluency in English and ability to work in diverse global teams
- Experience with AWS services like EC2, Docker, Kubernetes (CKA), ECS, Lambda
- Programming experience (Python, Java, Go, Ruby, Bash)
- Hands-on experience with observability tools (Splunk, DataDog, AppDynamics, CloudWatch)
- Understanding of SLOs, SLIs, Error Budgets
- Experience with proprietary HSBC platforms and services (TP and SHP)
- Production support in containerized environments using Kubernetes
- Knowledge of large-scale API development and management technologies
- DevOps and Agile methodologies
- CI/CD pipeline development
- Infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform
Nice to have
- AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification
- Professional certifications in Kubernetes (CKA)
