If you look at any technology-led industry it goes through a curve where there is an aspect of newness and complexity in the beginning and over a while it undergoes consolidation, simplification, and commoditization. The security industry seems to be going the other way where every year a plethora of new technology areas, new products, and new players emerge making the whole play muddled. Today there are over 90 different technologies from 3500 different companies in a 50 billion $ security product and an equal amount services market.
