3 rounds of interview. 2 Technical and one Manager round. I got through first round.2nd round was tough as they asked very deep internals of core java and other architectural questions.
Sample questions
I interviewed for an offshore React.js Developer role for Northern Trust through a service-based company from India. The process consisted of three technical rounds. Round 1: An AI-based assessment that included a combination of scenario-based questions answered verbally along with a few coding questions of moderate difficulty. Candidates were required to achieve a minimum qualifying score to proceed to the next round. Round 2: A one-on-one technical interview focused on JavaScript and React fundamentals. Topics included controlled vs. uncontrolled components, arrow functions vs. traditional functions, the this keyword, and a simple React coding exercise involving dependent state and city dropdowns. The interviewer was polite, professional, and occasionally provided hints whenever I got stuck. Round 3 (Client Interview): A virtual interview with a lead engineer from Northern Trust. This was the most in-depth round and focused on practical frontend development rather than obscure trivia. Topics included: React project experience Verifying whether newly deployed frontend code has actually reached production Debugging a slow React application Using Chrome DevTools (especially the Network tab) to analyze API performance and identify bottlenecks Responsive design and CSS media queries Prop drilling and ways to avoid it React re-rendering and optimization techniques using React.memo, useMemo, and useCallback A small React/CSS exercise involving parent and child components using Flexbox and modifying the layout with flex-direction Overall, the interviewer were professional and the discussion was technical, practical, and conversational. Since the final interview lasted nearly an hour and involved detailed discussions, I felt it had gone well. However, I was later informed that my profile had been rejected. The only disappointing part of the experience was the lack of interview feedback. I requested feedback through the recruiter, but none was available from the client. Constructive feedback helps candidates understand where they can improve and makes the interview process more valuable, especially after investing significant time and effort across multiple rounds.
