Data Engineer Intern· IndiaAverageno offer
The interview process had two rounds. The first was a written test consisting of SQL MCQs, aptitude, logical reasoning, and math questions. After clearing the written test, I attended the technical interview. The interview mainly covered SQL, Python, data engineering concepts, and my projects. I answered most of the technical questions confidently and had hands-on experience with the skills mentioned in the job description, including data engineering projects. Overall, I felt the technical interview went well.
A few hours later, I received a rejection email without any feedback. I was genuinely surprised because my technical interview had gone well, and the only area where I wasn't perfect was a few aptitude/math questions from the written test.
Another thing I found disappointing was the expectations for an intern. The stipend offered was quite low for a Data Engineer Intern role, yet the expectations were very high. Candidates were expected to learn and work with a large number of tools within about a month, which felt unrealistic for an internship.
I also tried to verify the technologies and partnerships mentioned by the company. From my own search of public information, I could not find Brilworks listed in the public partner directories of platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks. Similarly, while browsing LinkedIn, I personally couldn't find data engineering employees with Snowflake or Databricks certifications. This was only my personal observation based on publicly available information, and I would have appreciated more transparency regarding the company's actual data engineering ecosystem.
Overall, the interview itself was technical and fair, but the hiring decision felt difficult to understand due to the lack of feedback. Better transparency about the evaluation criteria and clearer communication with candidates would make the interview experience much better.
