Hopeful employees hindered by cronyism and poor management
Pros: Fast turnaround time for prototyping. Many of the regular employees care about their work environment and remain hopeful about the company’s future. Management tends to be relatively inexperienced, which can sometimes lead to greater openness to practices that may not align with established industry standards.
Cons: Rampant cronyism. A quick search of management’s work history will reveal promotions from lower-level positions to sudden director-level or leadership roles. The majority of teams are either underutilized or not utilized at all. Project management and scheduling are virtually nonexistent. BOMs are modified after release, and drawings are changed without review. High-volume prototype orders lead to burnout, frustration, and cross-functional tension. Project management is poor, with unrealistic timelines that lead to late deliveries. After someone gets hurt by an exploding battery, the first question asked is, “Can we keep building?” The second is, “What can we salvage?”
