Career growth depends on more than performance
Pros: The employee benefits and perks are good, and there are opportunities to interact with global clients and work on enterprise-scale projects. These experiences can be valuable, although client exposure often depends on the project and role, so not everyone gets the same level of involvement.
Cons: In my experience, career growth lacked transparency and promotions did not always feel merit-based. Technical ownership, consistent performance, and delivering business impact were not always recognized appropriately. Visibility with leadership and personal relationships appeared to have a greater influence on career progression than engineering contributions. Engineers who challenged ideas or expressed differing technical opinions could feel overlooked, creating an environment where conformity seemed to be rewarded more than independent thinking. Compensation growth also lagged behind the market for experienced engineers.
