Good Tech Team, but Leadership Is Driving the Ship in the Wrong Direction
Pros: The CTO and tech team are genuinely good. There are some strong and capable people in the engineering organization.
Cons: Salary delays have become a serious concern. Compensation is already not competitive with the market, and on top of that, employees have to deal with delayed salary payments. That is simply unacceptable for a company of this scale. The bigger problem, however, is the leadership culture. The CEO seems to listen primarily to a specific group (that propellor team) that is the concerns of the wider organization. This has created a very clear “us vs. them” culture. I have worked with 3–4 different managers and interacted with hundreds of colleagues during my time here. I can confidently say that this is one of the worst leadership environments I have experienced in my career. There are good people at WebEngage, especially within the tech team, but good employees cannot compensate for poor leadership, delayed salaries, and a culture where employee concerns seem secondary to internal politics and leadership retention.
