Cons: Atlan is a strategic failure. It’s a company waiting to be written off by time, AI and the investors. Their pivot from a data catalogue is not working. Context layer is struggling to find an audience. Basically, extreme churn in the catalogue that leads to revenue leakage and negative growth; no new major revenue from new products. To extend the runways, layoffs are being done, some loud and some silent! The leadership is as delulu as it can get. Executives and founders have filled their coffers and let employees bleed dry. Extremely elusive founders. They live in a dreamy land and are out of touch with the realities of their product, market, and the teams. Rampant layoffs and downsizing due to poor GTM and revenue management. Team members have nothing good to say about the company. People are scared, either by the process, managers or the leadership. Most of the company is looking out. Marketing is the biggest illusion of Atlan. They’ve created an image of this perfect company, but the reality is truly the opposite. Quite easy, did not involve any hard coding sessions. Influence on being AI use skills and system design. Past experience helped me here in getting through the system design rounds.
Asked a lot 5-6 rounds, had to do a complete PRD, case studies and got no offer after all this. Very long interview process ran for almost 3 weeks. They even took all assignements.

The interview process was extremely long and unstructured, I went through 7 to 8 rounds, including an assignment. During the process, I mentioned that the company’s reviews highlighted a lack of structure in interviews, but I ended up experiencing the same issues myself. I believe I could have helped resolve some of these challenges. The team repeatedly expressed excitement about me joining, and I even met the CEO, Varun. My application was paused at one point, then later resumed for another opportunity. My rounds went well, and I met the team in person as well, where they verbally said they were excited for me to join. However, later I was asked to attend another call with the CPO and was rejected without explanation. Despite following up, I did not receive a response. Overall, the team seemed enthusiastic, but the process felt drawn-out, inconsistent, and could have been better structured. I was very excited about the role but left disappointed.
Sample questions
Got a call from the recruiter and then recruiter ghosted me. The company is full of people who are rejects from other companies and are trying to overcompensate by bullying candidates. They are running the interview process to distribute case studies and get free work done from employees. Its a garbage place to apply for. I hope someday AI takes away the job of these entitled recruiters who think they are so smart. Maybe then, they will start seeing interview candidates like humans.
