View on GlassdoorPros: Wipro is a large organisation and can provide exposure to structured corporate processes and working with a diverse workforce. The role also gave me an opportunity to handle a training batch and develop my skills in classroom management, communication, and employee engagement. The experience exposed me to the realities of working in a large organisation and helped me understand the importance of planning, coordination, communication, and management support in a training environment.
Cons: My Experience at Wipro — Onboarding, Training and Workplace Challenges My experience at Wipro was disappointing, particularly because of repeated issues with onboarding, communication, training planning, access to basic resources, and management support. I was initially hired for a particular process, but my onboarding was delayed by approximately a month. When I finally joined, I was told that my ID for the original process had been deleted and that I had been moved to a different process. This was the first indication that there were significant gaps in coordination and communication. My first day itself was poorly organised. I arrived at the office only to discover that the security personnel had no information about my joining and my access card was not ready. There was also nobody available to escort me into the office. I had to wait for approximately an hour just to gain entry. I have worked with other organisations, including startups, and had never experienced such an unprepared onboarding process. I had arrived at the office in extremely hot weather. While waiting for HR to send the necessary email for my entry, I asked the security guard whether I could wait in the cafeteria. I was told that I would have to go to the dhaba outside instead. Eventually, I received entry, had a vada pav from the cafeteria, and unfortunately fell ill with food poisoning on my very first day. There was also confusion regarding my shift. I was initially informed that I would be working the 12:30 PM shift for the first month. However, although I reported in the 12:30 PM shift on my first day, I was moved to the 5:30 PM shift from the third day onwards. The training allocation was another major concern. On the fourth day after joining, I was handed over a batch of approximately 40 agents. The batch was handed over to me on 30 April, even though the actual process training was scheduled to begin only on 25 May. At that time, my manager was in the US. I repeatedly asked whether I could begin the communication/pre-process training so that the time could be used productively. However, I was instructed not to start it. Since there was no actual process content that I was permitted to teach, I initially tried to keep the batch engaged through fun activities and other interactions. However, after some time, the agents naturally started getting bored. There was only so much engagement possible when there was no process training to deliver. As a trainer, it also became difficult to insist that 40 adults remain seated and silent or not step outside when there was no meaningful training taking place. The batch size itself was unusually large. A trainer would generally handle approximately 20–25 agents, whereas I was given around 40 agents without a process trainer being provided for support. Another issue was access to basic work resources. I had previously worked even in startups where access to MS Office was readily available. At Wipro, however, it took approximately a month for me to receive approval for an E3 license. For someone expected to function as a trainer, such delays in access to basic productivity tools unnecessarily affect the ability to work efficiently. Approximately a month later, another trainer joined the team. Unfortunately, I subsequently experienced what I perceived as repeated negative comments and criticism about me being communicated not only to my manager but also more broadly within the office. I repeatedly raised my concerns with my manager regarding the situation, but I did not feel that my concerns were adequately addressed or that I received the support I expected from management. The issue for me was never simply that the job was demanding. I understand that training roles can involve pressure, large groups, changing schedules and operational challenges. The problem was the combination of poor onboarding, inconsistent communication, inadequate preparation, unusually large batch allocation, lack of process support, delays in access to essential tools, and insufficient management support when workplace concerns were raised. My biggest takeaway from the experience is that a large organisation can have excellent systems on paper, but those systems are meaningful only when they are actually coordinated and implemented at the ground level.
